"A look at Stalag Luft I"

Newspaper Clippings #1

This is a collage of newspaper clippings that I believe my mother or my fathers parents cut out and put into a scrap book. This is the only page of a scrap book if one exsisted that I have. In the lower right hand corner is an erroneous reporting that my father was killed in action.

Newspaper Clippings #2

Here are some more clippings that I found behind the image of the gunner. The first clipping is that of Jack R McCallen, the Radio Operator on my fathers flight crew. He is pictured second on the bottom of the Crew 13 Photo. The second clipping is a discription of the Consolidated B24 Liberator. The clipping below that is the notice that my father was a prisoner in Germany. The other two photos are unknown.

Newspaper Clippings #3

These are news paper clippings which disclose that Hitler wanted all the P.O.W.'s killed. There is also a short article about a P.O.W., Col. Henry R. Spicer who was due to be executed but was saved at the last minute from the Russians who liberated the camp. The last two articles (the long ones on the right) tell the stories of several men who where liberated by Russians.

Newspaper Clippings

All of these articles are believed to be taken from "Toledo Blade"

circa 1942-1945
